Austin High is pleased to announce that our new Academy for Global Studies Director is Ms. Nicole Griffith.
Ms. Griffith has been committed to serving the Austin High community for the past seven years as an Austin High World Geography teacher. She taught two of those years in AGS. She has developed interdisciplinary problem-based learning projects with a team of teachers in AGS and has collaborated with a professional learning community of geography teachers to design and implement common curriculum and assessment.
Ms. Griffith has extensive travel experience throughout the world. Most recently she served as the administrative group leader for the AGS trip to Turkey. She has also traveled with students from Austin High on an environmental educational trip to Costa Rica and to an experiential opportunity at Heifer Ranch in Arkansas.
Ms. Griffith earned her Master’s in Education degree in Educational and Community Leadership from Texas State University and was awarded the Best Graduate Student in the Educational Leadership Program. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in Geography.
Ms. Griffith is a dedicated member of the Austin High community and promises to be a committed leader who is creative, fair, and compassionate about establishing a culture that is inclusive of the entire school community, so every young person has a chance to learn, develop, and lead.
